# XTF template system / 2026.08 typography lock

This folder is the editable handoff for the VI page additions. It extends the
approved XTF Identity Standards Edition 06; it does not redraw or replace the
approved logo artwork.

## What changed in this revision

- The poster family and the PowerPoint template now share one typography lock:
  League Gothic for display, Montserrat for information, and Merriweather for
  reading copy.
- The desktop export uses fixed static font instances (not variable-font
  defaults). The locked PDFs embed those instances and pass the font gate.
- The three A2 masters share one 12-column skeleton, a 177-unit right rail,
  a 72-unit safe margin, and the same `QUESTION / METHOD / FINDING / PUBLIC
  ACTION` evidence thread. Arrowheads are vector geometry, never text glyphs.
- The SVG masters are self-contained: the approved lockup, specimen image and
  desktop font data are embedded so an `<img>` export cannot silently fall
  back to Arial, Georgia or a system symbol font.

The static instances live in the Design Skill package under
`assets/fonts/static/`. Install those files before opening or exporting the
PPTX. The PPTX theme is named `XTF Identity 06`; its major Latin face is League
Gothic, minor Latin face is Montserrat, and EA/CS routes are `Noto Sans SC` for
future bilingual edits. This specimen deck contains English copy only. If a
colleague adds Chinese, install and license the same Noto Sans SC family and
re-run the visual/font gate.

The editable PPTX intentionally does not claim embedded font binaries. If a
computer cannot find one of the three Latin families, PowerPoint substitutes a
system face and line breaks/weights change. Install `XTF-FONTS-2026.zip`, fully
quit and reopen PowerPoint, then verify the `XTF Typography` theme before editing.

Never use Arial, Arial Narrow, Calibri, Georgia, Times, Helvetica,
Liberation Sans, PingFang or synthetic symbol fallback in an English master.
Do not type `→`, `↗` or other missing-glyph arrows into a text box; use the
provided line/arrow geometry instead.

## Production and QA

1. Keep the supplied XTF vectors from `assets/brand/`; preserve aspect ratio,
   internal spacing and clear space.
2. Keep Signal Red `#EB1414`, black, white and Paper `#F3F1EE`. The old amber
   accent is intentionally removed from the prototype master.
3. Replace specimen copy only after claim, source, date, limits and image
   permissions are confirmed. This package contains no live programme data.
4. Run `pdffonts` on every PDF. Every visible text face must be an embedded,
   subsetted XTF static instance (`emb=yes`, `sub=yes`, `uni=yes`); any Arial,
   Calibri, Georgia, Liberation or PingFang row is a failed export.
5. Run the presentation checks on the PPTX: `slides_test.py`, an 8-slide
   render, and an XML scan for `Calibri`/`ChatGPT`/`Office`/fallback names.
   The deck uses fixed manual line breaks and `noAutofit`; reflow changed copy
   must be reviewed at 100% and thumbnail size.
6. These PDFs are trim-size digital proofs (420 × 594 mm / 1191.12 ×
   1684.08 pt), with no bleed or crop marks. Ask the printer to add 3 mm bleed,
   colour profile and crop marks for physical production. The embedded photo
   is approximately 280 ppi at its placed size; use a cleared higher-resolution
   source if a 300 ppi print master is required.
